I’ve just finished synching them, and they can still post only to Twitter or only to Facebook. It will allow personal interactions on one social site or the other, while maintaining the information, prayer, and devotional references each day.

Next project – to automate the daily Bible reading link so that it doesn’t have to be entered manually each day.

But these days, a blog just isn’t enough. So I took on two of the hottest social media sites, Twitter and Facebook, and now all three are synced.

I make one blog post, with an image, a full story, links, extra images, anything that is needed. My Twitter page is automatically updated with the title and part of the first sentence, then a link to my blog. My Facebook page is also automatically updated, as well, again, with a link back to my blog.

I can still make individual postings that are exclusive to Twitter or Facebook as needed. I LOVE it!

Unfortunately, though, every one of those has to be adapted or built by hand, because of it’s unusual proportions.

I chose the theme image to use for this Pastoral Forum with Pastor Jack Hayford from Midnight Oil’s awesome coordinated graphics set called Tree Roots. Because they provide images and video with and without the pre-titled words, I was able to use the wordless versions and provide our own title over it.

The flourishing of a tree through all the seasons of an annual cycle seemed to be a good metaphor for the theme of the one-day conference, “Sustaining Pastoral Excellence”.

The original image, to the right, wasn’t anywhere near wide enough to go on the center screen. An hour later, I’d manufactured another 1024×768 of pixels to make a complete image the correct size, as pictured below. Hopefully the only people who would know how much I doctored it up to get it on the extra wide screen are the artists at Midnight Oil where I purchased the original set.

The side screens, which changed at various times to hold content, used the same colors, and were a tad darker for contrast with the texts. A painted backdrop provided interest with texture and color. Here are two examples of the same background used for two of the sponsor’s screens:

All of these screens were the last creations for this event – now that it is over, I’ll be filing everything away for the next one.

Mother Goose needed a new Spring look for her handout – and so she called me.

Using the same look of hand-painted edges and a multi-colored cloud-like background,  the title was brightened up and a complete new color scheme to match her photo were added.

The colors are so fun and springy. She was out at Fashion Fair Mall this weekend with her friend, Easter Bunny, delighting the kids and parents at the mall with an Easter Season kickoff. So the handouts were done just in time.

I wanted to have a card that was me. Not something clinical, business-like, and certainly not boring. At the same time I knew I didn’t want it junky looking or a card that might turn off a business man who needed something designed for his company that was well, business-like.

The night before I worked on this, I had a dream about that patterned border across the bottom. A little line, some fun with type, with some input by my good friend, Samara Gugler, and it was ready to go!
